Dear women leaders who can’t quite face the change they know it’s time to make

In this cultural moment, a lot of women are redefining their relationship with work. Living through a global pandemic has prompted many of the women leaders I speak with to clarify their values and priorities, what they are and aren’t willing to tolerate, and what they want to do with their “one precious life” (hat tip, Mary Oliver). If this resonates, then I want to invite you to learn about a new program I’m offering with my husband, Jordan, a leadership coach, called Your Next Chapter. But first, let me tell you: You are not alone, and it is not a coincidence that you feel stuck.

Many women I talk to know deep down that it’s time for a change. Maybe that means leaving a company environment that no longer serves them, redefining their role within an organization with fresh boundaries, or getting clear on what a career that centers their passion might look like (without feeling irresponsible because, hello, paycheck).

But after such a destabilizing and exhausting few years, and with everything else on their plates (leading at work, leading at home, LIFE), it is too overwhelming to take action.

The thing is, this feeling — this deep knowing that it’s time for a change — it doesn’t go away. It may go into hiding for a while, but it doesn’t just “poof!” disappear…
